The UK has over 7 million older and traditional buildings, many of which are of solid wall construction. This training provides deep retrofit knowledge to those looking to work on such properties.
Understand energy efficiency for older and traditional buildings.
Over a quarter of properties requiring retrofit were constructed before 1919 and need specialist treatment. This includes many dwellings of solid wall construction that will require internal, external or hybrid wall insulation.
Retrofitting older buildings involves recognising key characteristics, understanding a building's age, heritage and conservation status, and specifying energy efficiency measures that are suitable for the type of construction. Ventilation, condition and moisture management considerations are often more critical.
Our course provides deep retrofit knowledge for Assessors, Coordinators, Designers and Installers looking to undertake work on such properties. It results in the Level 3 Award for Energy Efficiency in Older & Traditional Buildings, which is mandatory for those looking to undertake projects in the higher PAS 2035 risk paths that older buildings fall into.
Government-funded training places are now available.
As winners of the Government's Warm Homes Skills Programme, Trade Engine and Synergy Training Centre are able to offer heavily-subsidised places on our Level 3 Award in Energy Efficiency for Older & Traditional Buildings course.
The usual cost of this course is £695 + VAT, but funding from DESNZ can reduce this to a learner contribution of £150 + VAT. This course is also eligible for a CITB short-term qualifications grant of £600, which CITB members can claim upon completion.
